Ephesus Ancient City






: Ephesus was an important port city and cultural center during the ancient Roman Empire. Today, the Ancient City of Ephesus is considered one of the most important archaeological sites in Turkey. Among the important buildings in this ancient city are many historical monuments such as the Library of Celsus, the Temple of Artemis, the Grand Theater and the House of Virgin Mary.

House of Virgin Mary: According to Christian belief, Virgin Mary spent her old age in Ephesus and for this reason, a place called the House of Virgin Mary is located here. The House of Virgin Mary is a holy visit point for Christians and is visited by many Christians and tourists throughout the year.

Temple of Artemis: Artemis is the goddess of hunting and nature in ancient Greek mythology. The Temple of Artemis in Ephesus is counted as one of the seven wonders and was one of the largest temples of the ancient world. Unfortunately, very little of this temple remains standing today.

Selçuk Castle: Located in the center of Selçuk district, Selçuk Castle is a historical building from the Byzantine and Seljuk periods. The castle is considered one of the symbols of Selçuk and offers a beautiful view.

Museums: Selçuk Museum, located in Selçuk, is an important museum where artifacts unearthed from the Ancient City of Ephesus are exhibited. Additionally, the House of Virgin Mary Museum is a museum dedicated to the House of Virgin Mary.

Selçuk is an attractive destination for visitors with its historical and cultural riches, ancient ruins and natural beauties. The Ancient City of Ephesus and other historical sites are considered an important attraction for history and archeology enthusiasts.
